Most people go through life every day commenting on what’s around them. News, politics, relationships, all ladder up to conversations and opinions. I take a different approach by capturing my impressions and observations through drawing, painting and animation. The result is a collection of visual commentaries that are sometimes literal, sometimes more abstract, but always convey an attachment to the present moment.
Ever since I remember I’ve had a compulsion to capture the sights and thoughts of my world.
Riding the train from Brooklyn to Manhattan for years inspired me to begin to document the incredible world around me through my own lens - picking up on specific characteristics and details of the moment. This practice began almost as an exercise to inform my other work, but quickly became an end on its own.
Upon moving to Austin I gravitated towards the energy of the rich music scene to continue my work. Each piece has its own emphasis and weight, but as a body my drawings begin to tell a bigger story - picking up unique moments in time and space.
